  • LiveWell Check-In – This fall, you have an opportunity to participate in an integrative health screening. If you're on a UK health insurance plan, you'll receive a $100 rebate. Click here to learn more and to schedule an appointment. Sessions are available from Sept. 12-Dec. 12. 
  • Staff Professional Development Fund – The Staff Professional Development Fund is available for the fall. Applications are due Sept. 14. Funding may only be used to support training and professional development activities that are goal oriented and will increase the employee’s skills in areas specifically related to their major job responsibilities. Email for questions.   • UK Football Tickets Available – The CAFE Alumni Association is offering football tickets for purchase. All tickets are located in section 30, rows 40 and 41.  We have a limited number of parking passes also available for $50 at the E.S. Good Barn. Contact Brooke Stone for more information. Payment must be made at time of order.  Tickets available for the following games:
    • Sept. 1 – Central Michigan, $35, 3:30 p.m.
    • Sept. 15 – Murray State, $35, 12 p.m.

  • Sept. 6 – UK Food Science Club meeting, 5-6 p.m., 2nd floor conference room Garrigus. This is our first meeting of the school year. We will have introductions, a brief overview of what we hope to accomplish this year and officer elections.  Click here for more information.
  • Sept. 10 – 4-H Forestry Field Day – 9 a.m.-2 p.m., Land Between the Lakes. In one day, 4-Hers, ages 9-13, will learn about and test on the basics of tree identification, tree measurement, and the use of a compass and measuring distances by pacing. Cost is $3 per participant (must register with your 4-H agent). Click here for more information.

  • Sept. 15 – Small-Scale Logging Equipment Demonstration, 10 a.m.-3 p.m., Walt Rybka Farm, 5325 Hwy. 519, Morehead, Ky., 40351. While timber production is just one of the reasons that families own woodlands, many owners like the idea of being able to cut and use some of their own timber. This is an educational program covering safely harvesting timber using smaller equipment that can result in conservation of natural resources and improved woodland management. Demonstrate timber harvesting equipment, operations and techniques for woodland owners interested in small-scale harvesting methods. Contact Chad Niman for more information.
  • Sept. 17-22 – Mountain Ag Week and Field Day – UK Robinson Center for Appalachian Resource Sustainability. Click here for more information.
  • Sept. 18 – Campus Community Emergency Response Team (C-CERT) Training. Receive hands-on training in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety and suppression, light search and rescue, disaster medical operations, team organization, disaster psychology and terrorism. Training is held over five weeks in The 90 and ends with a mock disaster exercise. Attendance at all five sessions is required to participate. Enrollment is on a first come-first served basis. The training is free and open to regular, full-time UK faculty and staff.  Click here for more information.
  • Sept. 20 – UK Beef Bash – This exciting field day will offer many demonstrations, commercial exhibits, educational exhibits and more. You’ll have opportunities for hands-on activities and the chance to visit with other Kentucky beef cattle producers, UK personnel and administration and Kentucky Cattlemen’s Association staff and leadership. Click here for more information.
