  • Sustainability Challenge Grant Program – UK students, faculty, and staff may apply for a grant to fund a sustainability-oriented project. We will award $200,000 to multidisciplinary teams promoting sustainability, and each team may be awarded up to $50,000. Deadline to apply is Oct. 15. Click here for more information and to apply.
  • Farm-to-Fork Meals for UK Students –UK students may stop by 207 Funkhouser on Wednesdays from 11 a.m.- 2 p.m. for free, locally sourced lunches.   • LiveWell Check-In – This fall, you have an opportunity to participate in an integrative health screening. If you're on a UK health insurance plan, you'll receive a $100 rebate. Click here to learn more and to schedule an appointment. Sessions are available through Dec. 12. 
  • Recruiting for Exercise Study – Researchers invite you to participate in a 12-week exercise program to better understand how exercise could be used most effectively to promote weight control. Participants will be compensated $150 for their time. Click here for more information.

       · Are between the ages of 18-40 years
       · Do not use tobacco products
       · Do not have injuries or disabilities that prevent you from exercising
       · Are not pregnant
       · Are healthy enough to exercise
       · Do not currently exercise

  • Oct. 6-14 – Tree Week 2018, various times and locations. Join us for a celebration of Lexington’s trees and learn about all the ways trees impact our lives. This week celebrates and synthesizes the roles trees play through creative, informative and fun-filled activities focusing on tree planting, tree care and tree benefits, trees in art and culture, and trees' roles in our bodies, minds and spirits.   • Oct. 13 – Party for the Pumpkins, 2-6 p.m., The Arboretum. Party for the Pumpkins showcases all things fall. It is a fun event for the entire family, filled with crafts, nature displays and pumpkins. Admission to the Kentucky Children's Garden is included with event admission. Admission price: $7 plus 6 percent sales tax ($7.42/person); discount for Kentucky Children's Garden season members; children under 2 years old are free.   • Oct. 19 –CATchment (Rain Garden) Cleanup, 3-6 p.m. Join the Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering Student Branch for this annual event. This is a great volunteer opportunity.   • Oct. 30 – 2018 Lab Safety Fair, 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Biomedical Biological Sciences Research Building. Join your colleagues for this year’s safety fair themed “Playing with safety is … GAME OVER.” Attendees will receive a free T-shirt, free food and be eligible for prizes at each booth.   • Oct. 30 – Kentucky Grazing Conference, West, 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Hopkinsville. The focus of this year's annual conference is "Turning Grass into CA$H." Join us for this daylong program focused on increasing forage production and limiting costs. Click here for more information.
  • Now-Dec. 7 – Elderly Holiday Donation Drop-off, N318 Ag Science Center North. Accepting donations for Dover Manor Nursing Home located in Georgetown for the holidays. Donations needed are: shampoo/conditioner combo, shampoo, body wash, shaving cream, lip balm, blankets, powder, hair ties, lotion and deodorant.
