  • Holiday Reminder – As you are aware, from Dr. Capilouto’s message, eligible staff who worked on Labor Day (Sept. 7) can utilize the leave, as a floating holiday, through Dec. 31. When employees submit the leave request, regardless of which day they plan to utilize the leave, the leave type should be recorded as Holiday-Labor Day.   • Flu Season and Free Vaccines – As a reminder, UK Health Plan members can now get these three vaccines directly from pharmacies at no cost: Flu, Hepatitis A and Shingrix. Employees will need to present their benefit card. If there are questions, please contact the UK Pharmacy Benefits office at 859-218-5979.
  • No telehealth or necessary COVID test co-pays through Dec. 31. To help with your health care needs, you can continue to see any telehealth provider for no co-pay through the end of the year if you are on a UK health insurance plan. You can also receive a COVID-19 test for no co-pay on UK health insurance through Dec. 31, if the test is medically necessary.
  • Circle of Love – Now through Dec. 4, CAFE Staff Council invites you to consider sponsoring a child this holiday season. Choose a school and shop gifts through their Amazon wish list. Click here for more information.

Nov. 9 – Work-Life ROCKS! Virtual Series: You're OK when everything is not OK, 1:30-2:30 p.m. The only constant in life is change. Uncertainty, change, loss and other life challenges can lead to fatigue, anxiety, depression and despair. This workshop focuses on cultivating positive emotions and learning ways to hold and transform difficult experiences and emotions. Register here.

Nov. 9 – TIAA Making it easier for you: Online tools and resources, 3-4 p.m. Save time, better manage your money and feel empowered by learning and using the latest tools, resources and retirement calculators on TIAA’s online platform. Regsiter here.

Nov. 10 – Fulbright Scholar Program information session, 11 a.m. The 2022-2023 Fulbright U.S. Scholar competition will officially launch in February 2021. This presentation will be a useful introduction to the wealth of opportunities available through the Fulbright Program to U.S. faculty in all disciplines, as well as the excellent on-site resources to support you throughout the submission process. Nov. 12 – TIAA: Retiring in the ‘new normal,’ 12-1 p.m. We know how important it is to save for retirement. This presentation brings all of the risks to light to give you have a better understanding of what you may be facing and what you can do about it, especially in this new environment. Namely, shifting your strategy from just growing your money to protecting what you’ve saved as it grows. And for those still working, we’ll talk about protecting your income in retirement, by creating a "personal pension" to help cover essential expenses and next steps. Register here.

Nov. 16 – Fostering Community & Belonging, 12-1 p.m. Studies across the disciplines indicate a positive correlation between a shared sense of community and student success. In this workshop, we will consider what it means to be in community with others in an academic setting, and we will explore the benefits of fostering a sense of belonging through classroom community building and intentional pedagogical choices. Attendees will gain insights and develop practical tools for establishing a welcoming classroom environment for all students. This event is hosted by the CAFE Office of Diversity. Register here.

Nov. 17 – Real Talk with Work-Life therapists, 3-4 p.m. You are invited to join the Work-Life therapists in our monthly series, Real Talk. This is a roundtable-style discussion where real therapists answer real questions about real life. We will cover a different topic each month that will include parenting, anxiety, stress, depression and sleep. Register here.
