  • Discounted Spindletop Hall and Boone Center Fees -- The Club at UK’s Spindletop Hall is offering faculty and staff an additional 50 percent off the initiation fee on top of the standing 50 percent, year-round discount.   • Organic CSA Registration Open – Join UK's Organic CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) program. By joining today, you can support the next generation of farmers and enjoy a weekly share of vegetables for 22 weeks from May 25 through Oct. 19. The total price is $650 for faculty/staff and $584 for students. Members may choose between two pickup sites on Thursdays: campus pickup at the E.S. Good Barn (4 p.m. to 6 p.m.) or farm pickup at the UK Horticulture Research Farm (3:30 p.m. to 6:30pm).  Click here for more information or email Kristi Durbin.

  • April 25 – ABT 395/399 Student Presentations, Cameron Williams Lecture Hall, Plant Science Building, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Agricultural and Medical Biotechnology students will each give a short presentation of their independent research projects to fulfill one of requirements of the course. Tentatively, presentations will occur on April 25 and possibly April 27. Click here for more information.
  • April 26 – Spring Open Greenhouse fundraiser, Greenhouse No. 12, 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.  The Horticulture Club has tomato plants for sale. The club also has many varieties of pepper plants, four varieties of cabbage and broccoli plants. Herbs including rosemary, lavender, thyme, sweet basil, Italian flat leaf parsley, lemongrass, scented geranium, sage, chives and oregano are available.  Customers can purchase tropical plants suitable for summer bedding plant or container use.   • April 26 – Science 4 Everyone Kentucky lecture, W.T. Young Library, UKAA 1-64, 7 p.m. Lecture titled, "Using neuroscience to solve the next healthcare crisis – dementia," presented by Donna Wilcock, professor in the UK Sanders-Brown Center on Aging and Department of Physiology, free and open to the public, followed by a Q&A session.   • April 28 – Call to the Post Derby Bash, Round Barn Stable of Memories at Red Mile, 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. Join us for this inaugural event. The schedule is: Happy Hour – 6 p.m.: Join us for hors d'oeuvres and local brewery tastings. Dinner and Drinks – 7 p.m.: Enjoy a delicious meal by the chef of Bayou Bluegrass Catering.  Live music at 8 p.m.: Local band, Superfecta, will have you dancing throughout the night!   • April 29 – Attend Lexington’s 26th Arbor Day celebration at The Arboretum. The event will start at 10 a.m. in the tree giveaway tent with a short ceremony, including the Proclamation of Arbor Day. After the ceremony, you may select a tree or shrub to take home to plant, visit exhibitors in three tents, view the Birdhouse Display and Silent Auction in the Visitor Center, and visit the Kentucky Children's Garden where admission is free until it closes at 2 p.m. Click here for more information or email Molly Davis.
