  • CAFE Jobs Website – Are you ready to be part of the College of Agriculture, Food and Environment at the University of Kentucky? Employment opportunities are available throughout the commonwealth. This new site showcases all jobs currently open throughout the college.
  • CAFE College Store Changing Products – The CAFE College Store is changing products for the Spring/Summer 2022 season. Places orders now before the new catalog rolls out next week.
  • Barnhart Fund for Excellence Call for Proposals – The Charles E. Barnhart Fund for Excellence was created to honor Dr. Barnhart, dean of the College of Agriculture from 1969-1988. The Barnhart Fund supports activities that enhance excellence in College of Agriculture, Food and Environment programs. Annually, the Barnhart Fund for Excellence Committee, comprised of faculty and staff appointed to two-year terms by the dean, seeks proposals for projects/programs to be supported by the fund. The committee is currently seeking proposals for projects to occur during fiscal year 2023, which is July 1, 2022- June 30, 2023. Applications are due by 5:00 ET on May 2, 2022.

April 7 – Cultivating Inclusion with Cultivating Change, The LGBTQ+ AGperience, 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. The Cultivating Inclusion Series provides an informal, safe environment for faculty, staff and students to engage in conversations related to diversity and inclusion while fostering an appreciation of inclusivity within the UK College of Agriculture, Food and Environment. This session will feature guest speakers from the Cultivating Change Foundation to share research, best practices and opportunities to engage college students. Pre-register for session using location link.

April 15, 16 – Materialized: in The Arboretum, 6 p.m. The Arboretum will host another spring performance by the UK College of Fine Arts Department of Theatre and Dance! This event will happen on Friday, April 15 and Saturday, April 16 at 6:00 pm. This year, Materialized: in The Arboretum will feature seven student choreographed dances and one faculty work. Topics include climate change, Greek Mythology, the environment and gratitude for the land and its ecosystems. Admission is $3.00 /person (plus service charges) and must be purchased through Singletary.

April 22, 23 – Earth Day at The Arboretum, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Join us on April 22 and 23 in the Kentucky Children's Garden as we celebrate Earth Day by making reusable bags out of old t-shirts, plant something to take home and other educational fun activities about how to be a good steward of the Earth's resources. Special crafts and activities will be from 10 am to 1 pm but the garden will remain open until 5 pm. Entry fee is $3.00 for ages 2 and up. No pre-registration required. Recommended for ages 2-10.

April 23 - Bird Walk at The Arboretum. Join us on Saturday, April 23 from 8am -10am with experienced birders, Dan Patrick and Katey Buster, as they explore The Arboretum grounds looking for the birds that utilize our urban tree canopy. Since these walks will take place during spring migration, expect to see our returning summer breeding birds. Both beginner and experienced birders are welcome. Pre-registration required as space is limited.

April 27 – Are you ready for Cultivating Change? The UK CAFE Office of Diversity is holding an online, informational meeting on April 27 at 11 am ET to gauge student/staff interest in starting a UK affiliate of the Cultivating Change Foundation. This group focuses on "valuing and elevating LGBTQ+ agriculturists through advocacy, education and community." This organization is focused on the agriculture and natural resources industry but is open to any UK student or employee. You do not have to be a CAFE student to join!
