The 7th Annual Jr. MANRRS Leadership institute will be held December 7-8, 2018 at the University of Kentucky in the College of Agriculture, Food and Environment. The leadership institute is for youth grades 7th- 12th. The leadership institute will have interactive workshops, contest, general sessions, and tours. The purpose of the leadership institute is to promote academic and professional advancement by empowering and exposing underrepresented, underserved, first generation and diverse student, faculty and staff leaders to the viable career pathways in Kentucky’s abundant agriculture while learning how to become the next generation of diverse leaders.
The goals for the Jr. MANRRS Leadership Institute is to encourage students in grades 7-12 to attend college for one, but to explore the agriculture, natural resources, and environmental science field. The institute provides activities to help students discover firsthand how agriculture, engineering, and technology relate to the world around them and discover the excitement of academic excellence, leadership, technical development, and teamwork.
The two-day Leadership Institute has participants to focus on the subject areas of science, technology, engineering, agriculture, and mathematics. Interactive workshops, tours, a career awareness fair, and general sessions all will give youth the opportunity to explore future career and academic paths, in addition to gaining skills developing them both personally and professionally. Signature to the Institute, students have the opportunity to participate in three contest of impromptu speaking, interview, and quiz bowl. These activities will enable the institute to reach the desired outcomes.
