The Institute of Food Technologists' Student Association (IFTSA), the largest professional organization for food science students, sponsors the College Bowl competition for teams from across the United States. Teams from individual universities compete in their respective regional/area competitions and each area winner goes on to compete at the national level at the IFT Annual Meeting. This team activity provides a wonderful positive catalyst for food science students to maintain a broad knowledge base in their profession, enables students to interact with other food science students from around the country, and builds students' confidence, discipline, and team-player skills.
