Diverse People Doing Diverse Work Murals
On October 14, 2015, the College of Agriculture, Food and Environment (CAFE) Office of Diversity hosted its inaugural “Intercultural Awareness Day,” which included an art contest for students, faculty, and staff. Participants produced a painted tile depicting “how they contribute to diversity.” About 125 individuals participated in this multi-cultural, multi-generational project. After the tiles were painted, they were fired and framed in four murals, which are located in Agricultural Science Center North, C. E. Barnhart, Erikson, and W. P. Garrigus buildings. The tile project was made possible by the support of Dean Nancy Cox; Assistant Dean and Director for Diversity Quentin Tyler; Extension Associate for Diversity Recruitment and Retention Natasha Saunders; and Megan Sauter, owner of All Things Clay Studio.
